Livorno coach Cristiano Lucarelli under FIGC investigation

The FIGC Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into Livorno coach Cristiano Lucarelli following controversial remarks made during a pre-match press conference. The investigation follows Lucarelli's criticism of public safety authorities regarding a travel ban imposed on Livorno supporters for an upcoming high-risk match against Spezia.

During the press conference, Lucarelli expressed frustration with the decision, stating, “If I am reborn I want to be either the questore or the prefect.” He further questioned the consistency of local security measures by comparing them to the management of international European cup matches, where foreign fans are permitted to travel despite potential risks.

The Federal Prosecutor is examining whether these statements violate the Code of Sports Justice, specifically regarding principles of loyalty, correctness, and probity. The inquiry will focus on whether his comments constitute an unauthorized public attack on the reputation of state officials or institutions.
