Livorno coastline cleanup concludes at Cala del Leone

Volunteers gathered at Cala del Leone to participate in the final session of the ‘Adotta una Cala’ (Adopt a Cove) project. The initiative, organized by AAMPS/Retiambiente in collaboration with the Municipality of Livorno, aims to clean and protect the Livorno coastline.

During the cleanup, volunteers collected various types of waste abandoned by visitors, including cigarette butts, plastic beverage containers, bags, food scraps, and paper or cardboard packaging. Participating environmental organizations included Legambiente, Plastic Free, Mare Vivo Livorno, Sons of the Ocean, Appartenenza Labronica, and others.

Aldo Iacomelli, Sole Administrator of AAMPS/Retiambiente, noted the success of citizen participation through various environmental associations. However, he also highlighted the continued issue of negligence by some visitors. Moving forward, the project intends to increase awareness efforts and continue environmental inspections to support coastal preservation.
