Livorno launches Urban Flow pilot project for youth engagement
The municipality of Livorno has introduced ‘Urban Flow – Observe, Relate, Activate’, an experimental project designed to engage young people in the Scopaia and Leccia neighborhoods. Funded by the Zone 4 Council with municipal support, the initiative will be implemented by the association Cuore Liburnia Sociale.
The project aims to address nighttime disturbances, such as loud music and public gatherings, reported by local residents. Rather than focusing on repression, the program utilizes an integrated urban security approach based on prevention and relationship-building. Professional educators will be stationed at key locations, including the La Leccia shopping center and the Scopaia football field, between 11:00 PM and 2:00 AM.
Running from November 6 through December, the initiative includes mapping aggregation sites and establishing an early warning system coordinated with the municipal administration. Officials intend for this pilot to serve as a model that could eventually be expanded across the entire city.
