Livorno Municipality launches social housing and Third Sector initiatives
The Municipality of Livorno has launched two initiatives aimed at supporting the Third Sector and improving social housing management.
First, the city has opened a public selection process to assign seven rooms in via La Pira to non-profit organizations and Third Sector entities. The property is intended to support local associative activities. The concession will last six years, with the possibility of a six-year renewal. Selection will be based on a merit ranking that considers territorial roots, social utility—specifically regarding disadvantaged groups and the Corea neighborhood—and organizational reliability. While the estimated market rent is €532.45 per month, the City Council may grant a reduction of up to 90% based on the social objectives pursued by the recipient.
Additionally, the Municipality is seeking expressions of interest from Third Sector entities to participate in a co-programming table. This initiative focuses on the social and managerial aspects of Social Residential Housing (Edilizia Residenziale Sociale). The goal is to develop Integrated Housing Services (SIA), define the role of social managers, and build a territorial network to support social housing through a future Social Housing Pact.
