Livorno port explosive ordnance successfully secured
Explosive ordnance discovered in the port of Livorno has been successfully identified and secured by specialists. The operation was carried out by bomb disposal experts from the 2nd Engineer Pontieri Regiment of Piacenza.
The emergency response involved coordinated efforts between the Maritime Directorate of Livorno, the Prefecture, and various law enforcement agencies, including the Guardia di Finanza and Maritime Border Police. Following the successful intervention, temporary restrictions on port activities have been lifted, and full operations have resumed in accordance with local port authority and coast guard ordinances.
Prefect Giancarlo Dionisi expressed satisfaction with the professionalism and timeliness of the intervention, specifically thanking the Maritime Directorate, coordinated by Admiral Giovanni Canu, and the various security forces involved in managing the delicate operation.
