LIVRE accuses PS and PSD of eight-year delay in Beja hospital expansion

The LIVRE Alentejo party has accused both the PS and PSD of failing to deliver the expansion of the José Joaquim Fernandes Hospital in Beja for eight years. The party claims the project has become a victim of political finger-pointing between the two major parties, noting that while the Assembly of the Republic recommended the remodeling in 2018, no tenders have been launched and no funding has been secured.

LIVRE criticized the PS for failing to act on the 2018 recommendation and for abstaining during the 2025 State Budget vote regarding the 118 million euro investment commitment. Simultaneously, the party criticized the current PSD/CDS government for failing to meet announced deadlines, noting that the hospital was excluded from the 2026 State Budget proposal and that officials recently admitted they are still seeking funds for the project.
