LIVRE criticizes lack of funding for new Barcelos hospital

The political party LIVRE has criticized the 2027 State Budget proposal for failing to include specific funding for the construction of a new hospital in Barcelos. The party expressed concern that the lack of a dedicated budget leaves previous commitments regarding this essential healthcare infrastructure unfulfilled.

LIVRE noted that the Municipality of Barcelos has already invested approximately four million euros to acquire the land for the facility. While the project is included in the Health Multi-annual Investment Plan with an associated amount of 163.3 million euros, the party argues that multi-annual projections do not replace the necessity of annual budget allocations. They are calling on the Government for clarification regarding the construction timeline and guaranteed financing to begin works in 2027.
