Livret A interest rate set at 1.7%

The annual interest rate for the Livret A has been set at 1.7% since August 1, 2026, a decrease from the 3% rates seen in previous years. Despite the lower yield, the account remains a functional option for emergency savings due to its immediate liquidity, lack of fees, and tax-free interest.

To optimize annual returns, savers should be mindful of the ‘rule of fortnights,’ where interest is calculated on the 1st and 16th of each month. Making deposits before the end of the month ensures that the capital begins earning interest at the start of the following period, whereas deposits made on the 1st of the month delay interest accumulation by two weeks.
