Liz East quits legal career to start successful dog walking business
Liz East, a 30-year-old woman from East Sussex, has transitioned from a career as a criminal defense paralegal to a full-time dog walker and boarder. After spending six years studying law and four years working in the legal sector, East cited extreme stress, long hours often exceeding 12 hours a day, and the draining nature of corporate culture as her primary reasons for leaving.
To build her new business, East initially worked at a local pub while establishing a client base. She now manages between 20 and 30 dogs daily across approximately four outings. Charging roughly £14 per hour per dog, she reports daily earnings between £300 and £400, noting that she earns significantly more than she did in her previous legal career while working roughly half the hours.
