Ljubinje Health Center offers 5,000 KM salary and housing to attract doctors

The Ljubinje Health Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina is offering a monthly salary of approximately 5,000 KM and housing to attract a specialist physician to address a long-standing staff shortage.

Acting Director Isidora Lugonja stated that the incentive package includes high coefficients, increased readiness pay, and municipal stimulation. If a physician moves with their family and signs a 10-year contract, the provided apartment can become their permanent property.

The facility has struggled with medical staff shortages for five to six years. Currently, the shortage is being managed temporarily by employing retired doctors and specialists from Trebinje Hospital. Lugonja suggested a systemic solution, such as a legal requirement for doctors to work in primary healthcare for at least two years following graduation before pursuing specialization.
