Ljubljana mayoral candidates announce platforms

Candidates for the Ljubljana mayoral election have begun outlining their visions for the city's future.

Luka Mesec, co-coordinator of the Levica party and former minister, is campaigning on promises of increased housing accessibility and improved public services. His platform includes an initiative to make all public kindergartens in the Municipality of Ljubljana free within his first year in office.

Aleš Vrhovec, representing the SDS party, is an architect and urbanist proposing radical changes to the capital. His platform includes the annual creation of at least 3,000 new housing units, the establishment of a municipal hospital, improved bus services, the potential introduction of a tram system, and cheaper parking across all neighborhoods. Vrhovec has also called for a revision of certain municipal investments and criticized the current administration's major projects.
