Ljubljana police rescue child trapped in school transport van

An 11-year-old boy with special needs was found trapped inside a locked van in the Rožna dolina district of Ljubljana. The child was part of an organized school transport service, but remained in the parked vehicle after the driver had completed the morning route.

A local resident discovered the boy after hearing him crying and banging on the vehicle. Police arrived at the scene and, unable to open the door from the inside, eventually rescued the child through an open window with the assistance of the resident. The boy was reportedly frightened following the incident but is reported to be safe and has since been reunited with his mother.

Ljubljana police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. Authorities are specifically examining the possibility of a criminal offense related to the abuse of official position. Once all statements are collected and findings are verified, the case will be referred to the competent state prosecutor.
