Ljubuški and Mojkovac announce municipal budget increases
Municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro are adjusting their annual budgets to increase funding for infrastructure and public services.
The City Council of Ljubuški has approved budget amendments for 2026, increasing the total budget by 866,000 KM to a new total of 26,595,000 KM. The increase is driven by higher tax revenues and capital transactions, including 500,000 KM from land sales. Key spending priorities include 800,000 KM for road repairs, 200,000 KM for local community transfers, and 180,000 KM for the protection of the Old Town of Ljubuški monument. Additional funds are allocated for religious objects, water systems, and small business subsidies.
In Mojkovac, a draft budget rebalance proposes increasing total receipts and expenditures from 11.5 million to 13 million euros. The plan allocates approximately 7.18 million euros to capital projects. Significant investments include 2.4 million euros for wastewater management, 1 million euros for the reconstruction of the city square, and increased funding for various water supply systems in Lepenac, Podbišće, and Stevanovac. The budget also maintains a planned credit debt of 1 million euros and expects 1 million euros in EU donations.
