Ljupčo Georgievski defends Macedonian statehood against constitutional concerns

Former Prime Minister Ljupčo Georgievski has criticized intellectuals and the President of the Academy for suggesting that potential constitutional changes could lead to the dissolution of the Macedonian state.

Georgievski questioned the narrative that the nation is so fragile that including Bulgarians in the constitution would result in its collapse. He argued that such rhetoric undermines the stability and reality of the state's existence.

Addressing historical context, Georgievski noted that past revolutionaries chose to engage with Bulgarian institutions, such as the Exarchate, without being forced by violence. He called for Macedonian society to confront historical facts directly without creating myths regarding the imposition of identities in the past. These comments come amid intense political debate regarding the conditions for the country's Euro-integration process.
