Nicosia Half Marathon concludes with awards and solidarity messages
The 14th Ülker Nicosia Half Marathon, organized by the Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB) in cooperation with the TRNC Athletics Federation, has concluded. The event featured 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km races, with winners receiving awards from LTB President Mehmet Harmancı and Athletics Federation President Ferhat Sakallı.
In the 21 km category, Hakan Çoban won the men's general classification with a time of 1:08:55, while Hasibe Demir took first place in the women's category at 1:23:40. The 10 km winners were Muhammed Furkan Şanlı and Derya Köse, and the 5 km winners were Sezayi Okut and Ada Kafa. Awards were also presented across ten different age categories.
The marathon also served as a platform for social solidarity. Participants and political figures, including TDP General Chairman Zeki Çeler and UBP candidate Mehmet Aktunç, noted that proceeds from the event would support the families of those lost in a recent ship accident near Kyrenia. Candidates emphasized the importance of using sports to foster community unity and promote a healthier lifestyle in the capital.
