LKL basketball season begins with Žalgiris and Lietkabelis victories

The Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) season opened with significant victories for Kauno Žalgiris and Panevėžio Lietkabelis.

Kauno Žalgiris secured their second consecutive win with a 93:69 victory over Klaipėdos Neptūnas. Despite early competition, Žalgiris maintained control through strong performances by their big men, including Jonas Valančiūnas, who recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds. Elvar Fridriksson led Neptūnas with 17 points in the losing effort.

In the Aukštaitija derby, Panevėžio Lietkabelis overcame a 21-point deficit to defeat Utenos Juventus 84:82. Ognjenas Jaramazas secured the win with a decisive mid-range shot in the final seconds. Danielis Baslykas also contributed significantly for Lietkabelis with 14 points, while Laurynas Beliauskas scored 19 points for Juventus.
