LKQ Corp. appoints Salvatore Abbate as new CEO

LKQ Corporation has appointed Salvatore “Sal” Abbate as its new president and chief executive officer, effective December 15, 2026. Abbate succeeds Justin Jude, who departed the company on October 23.

Abbate brings over 30 years of experience in large-scale distribution and industrial leadership. Notably, as CEO of Veritiv Corporation, he oversaw a significant transformation that resulted in a 13-fold increase in share price prior to its $2.6 billion sale in 2023. His previous experience includes leadership roles at Andersen Windows & Doors, Solutia Inc., and Armstrong World Industries.

During the transition period, LKQ Corp. will be led by an interim office of the CEO consisting of Board Chairman John Mendel and Board Audit Committee Chairman Sue Gove. Board Chairman Mendel stated that Abbate was selected to bring the operating rigor and commercial instincts necessary to sharpen execution and unlock the company's full potential.
