LKQ Europe publishes roadmap to make vehicle repair cost‑effective and sustainable across the continent

LKQ Europe has released a new whitepaper, "Safeguarding the future of vehicle repair: How Europe can keep mobility cost‑effective and sustainable," outlining a ten‑point roadmap for the automotive aftermarket. The plan calls for treating cost‑effectiveness and environmental sustainability as inseparable goals, scaling the use of reused, recycled and remanufactured parts, professionalising alternative‑parts supply chains, improving quality, warranty and traceability standards, expanding access to vehicle and parts data, and accelerating electric‑vehicle (EV) and battery repair capabilities.

The paper also pledges to train 24,000 technicians in 13 European countries by 2028 on EV diagnostics, high‑voltage safety and modern repair techniques, and urges greater collaboration across the repair ecosystem. LKQ Europe President and Executive Managing Director Andy Hamilton said, "European vehicle repair is approaching a critical turning point. Workshops and bodyshops are under pressure from rising costs, increasing vehicle complexity, electrification and growing sustainability expectations…".

The roadmap aims to keep vehicle repair commercially viable while reducing environmental impact, encouraging a repair‑first decision‑making approach and building greater trust and transparency throughout the European aftermarket.
