Llandudno Colonnade set for new heritage information displays

Conwy County Council has submitted a Listed Building Consent application to enhance the visitor experience at the Grade II listed Colonnade in Llandudno. The proposal includes the installation of a large portrait interpretation panel at the southern end and two smaller ‘History Point’ panels at both the northern and southern ends.

These new signs will feature QR codes, providing visitors with digital access to information regarding the structure’s history. The Colonnade, which offers elevated coastal views, recently underwent extensive regeneration and re-opened in March 2026.

Historically, the Colonnade was conceived by George A. Humphreys of Mostyn Estates to provide shelter in Happy Valley. It was officially opened on March 31, 1932, by Lord Mostyn, utilizing quarried stone and government funding intended to alleviate mass unemployment.
