Llanes completes Trail del Cuera hiking route upgrades

The Llanes City Council has completed the adaptation and signage of the ‘Trail del Cuera’ following an investment of 29,257.80 euros. The project was funded by the European Union through Next Generation EU funds as part of the ‘Llanes en el Camino’ Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan.

The improvements involved manual clearing of over 3,000 meters of trail across 15 sections, ensuring a minimum width of 3 meters for pedestrian safety. This work aims to prevent hikers from wandering onto private property and to improve the overall experience for active tourists.

New signage has been installed according to standards set by the Spanish Federation for Mountain and Climbing Sports (FEDME). This includes continuity markings, directional posts, and informative signs at points of interest, such as panoramic tables. The route is now fully operational for hikers.
