Llanes faces criticism over urban planning delays and maintenance efforts

The Ombudsman (Defensor del Pueblo) has criticized the Llanes City Council for significant delays in urban planning services. The institution, led by Ángel Gabilondo, described a two-year delay in granting licenses as “excessive” and has called for local authorities to implement measures and provide necessary resources to reduce processing times.

A municipal report acknowledged the structural issues within the Urbanism and Heritage department, noting that some applications from December 2023 were only just being processed. In Asturias, where specific regional regulations are absent, the legal maximum for resolving and notifying urban licenses is three months.

Separately, the municipality of Llanes has been conducting maintenance works through its Municipal Clearing and Cleaning Plans. These efforts include mowing, clearing, and path maintenance in various locations such as Sirviella, La Pesa, Nueva, Ricaliente, Posada, and Porrúa, as well as the Piñeres industrial estate.
