Llanmoor Homes urges Welsh Government to support new-build housing

Llanmoor Homes and the Home Builders Federation are calling on the Welsh Government to improve perceptions of new-build housing to help address the nation's housing crisis. Developers argue that the current discourse regarding new developments is frequently negative, which can impact planning and policy decisions.

Industry representatives highlight that new-build projects provide significant community benefits beyond housing. In the 2025/26 period, 5,159 new homes were delivered across Wales, contributing £1.1 billion in economic activity. This included £230 million for affordable housing and £32 million for infrastructure, such as schools, transport links, and leisure facilities.

Despite these contributions, the Welsh Government estimates that an additional 8,700 homes are required annually until 2030 to meet demand. Developers are urging policymakers to view the housebuilding industry as a partner in economic and community development.
