Llanwrtyd Wells to host memorial run for MND research

The Ron Skilton Memorial Half Marathon and 12k run will take place in Llanwrtyd Wells on Sunday, October 18. Organized by Green Events, the event aims to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The memorial honors Ron Skilton, a former treasurer for Green Events who passed away from motor neurone disease in December 2005. Skilton was a key figure in establishing the town's reputation for unique outdoor events, such as the World Bog Snorkelling Championship.

Participants can choose between a half marathon featuring a figure-of-eight, mostly off-road route through mountainous terrain with a peak elevation of 2,500 feet, or a 12k route with approximately 1,500 feet of climbing. Both races are open to runners aged 16 and older. Registration begins at 9am at the Neuadd Arms Hotel, which also serves as the start and finish point.
