Llay Llay producer modernizes egg production with renewable energy
Carlos Vilches Lanas, a producer in the La Estancilla sector of Llay Llay, has modernized his egg production through the support of INDAP. His enterprise, which currently manages over 2,700 Hy-Line Brown laying hens, has undergone significant technological and infrastructural upgrades.
Since joining the PRODESAL program in 2019, Vilches has utilized various technical advisory services, credits, and investment projects. These include the construction and expansion of poultry houses and the 2025 acquisition of an egg selector to improve classification efficiency. Most recently, in September 2026, the installation of 10 solar panels was completed to integrate renewable energy into the production system. This initiative aims to reduce energy costs and provide the 16 hours of light required for the hens' laying cycle.
