Ülle Madise considers Estonian presidential candidacy

Estonian Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise has stated that while she is not currently seeking a new position or presenting herself as a presidential candidate, she would consider running if members of the Riigikogu felt she was suitable. She noted that no representatives have yet approached her for consent to nominate her.

Martin Helme, chairman of the Conservative People's Party of Estonia (EKRE), has raised concerns regarding a potential role conflict. He argued that because the Chancellor of Justice serves as an overseer of the Riigikogu, accepting a nomination without resigning from her current post could be seen as pressuring the parliament for votes. Helme suggested that such a conflict might lead to legal challenges against the election results in court.
