Lleida building demolition begins after fatal fire
Demolition work has begun on a burnt-out residential block on Vallès Street in Lleida. The building, which consists of a ground floor and four upper stories, was declared uninhabitable by firefighters following a fire on August 16.
The fire originated in a ground-floor warehouse used for repairing machinery and motors. Local authorities, including Mossos d'Esquadra and firefighters, are investigating the cause of the blaze. Currently, 18 displaced residents are being housed in hotels while a permanent solution is sought. The property owner is responsible for the demolition, which must proceed uninterrupted until completion.
