Lleida City Council replaces stolen copper cabling in Copa d’Or

The Lleida City Council is working to replace copper cabling that was stolen from streetlights in the Copa d’Or area, specifically near Passeig de Torre Patriot. The theft of the cables has left the area in darkness, leading to resident complaints regarding increased insecurity.

The municipal intervention involves repairing pavement and drilling around the affected lamps to reinstall the wiring. While work is underway, reports indicate that progress has been slow in recent weeks. This follows a similar large-scale replacement in early 2023, which cost over 72,000 euros to replace 7,268 meters of stolen cable.
