Lleida concludes emergency housing for seasonal agricultural workers

The Lleida City Council has concluded its extraordinary housing arrangements for seasonal agricultural workers. The emergency accommodation measures at Fira de Lleida pavilions 3 and 4 ended on August 31 and August 24, respectively.

During the campaign, the Single Office assisted 1,676 individuals, providing social and labor services. This represents a 64% increase in people assisted compared to the previous year, which saw 1,023 individuals. The surge in arrivals led to increased numbers of people sleeping on the streets, particularly around the Fira area.

To manage the demand, the city activated Pavilion 4 to provide 160 additional places. At peak capacity, the city offered approximately 400 places across the pavilions, social housing, and the Caparrella Seasonal Worker Assistance Center (CAT). While the large-scale pavilion accommodations have closed, the council will maintain approximately 130 places in apartments and the CAT until the end of September for workers who remain active.
