Lleida hosts lecture series honoring writer Manuel de Pedrolo
The Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs has launched a four-session lecture cycle titled ‘Manuel de Pedrolo, avui es parla de tu’ to commemorate the life and work of the Catalan writer Manuel de Pedrolo i Molina. The series aims to reclaim his legacy and highlight his role in placing Catalan literature within a European context through his innovative and socially committed writing.
The first colloquium, moderated by Teresa Ibars, featured discussions on Pedrolo’s editions, commemorations, and memory spaces. Participants included editor Jordi Puig Ferrer, scholar Alba Pijuan, and writer Anna Maria Villalonga. Discussions emphasized Pedrolo’s immense productivity and political engagement.
The cycle will continue with subsequent sessions in January, culminating on January 30 with the theatrical performance ‘El laberint de Pedrolo’. Additionally, the house-museum in Tàrrega dedicated to the author serves as a key site for preserving his material and literary legacy.
