Lleida rolls out new CCTV cameras and inclusive playground upgrades

The Lleida City Council (La Paeria) approved the installation of video‑surveillance cameras at the Edil Saturnino plaza, located in front of the city’s train and bus stations. The cameras are part of the municipal Edil plan funded with European Union resources and aim to improve safety for the thousands of daily commuters. Junts party spokesperson Violant Cervera welcomed the measure, calling it a necessary step for public security.

In a separate project, the council also launched a full renovation of the Escorxador plaza. A €267,171 contract will replace existing equipment with inclusive play structures, including a multi‑user swing, carousel, climbing frames, an elastic trampoline, a sand area and accessible benches and fountains. The redevelopment, also co‑financed by the EU, includes the planting of new trees across several city districts.
