Lleida to transform former bus station into sports complex

The former bus station in Lleida, located on Saracíbar Street, will be transformed into a multi-use sports and commercial complex. The winning design by Vivid Arquitectura was selected following a competition organized by the city council (Paeria).

The project, estimated to cost approximately six million euros, includes the construction of two swimming pools—one 25-meter pool and a smaller one—along with a gymnasium located in the former Sant Bernat restaurant. The facility will also feature a multi-use sports track on the upper floor for activities such as athletics and a boxing-specialized gym. Changing rooms will be situated in the basement.

Beyond the building itself, the redevelopment aims to revitalize the historic center by creating a new pedestrian connection between Blondel and Madrid avenues. The plan includes a 1,856-square-meter green corridor with trees and benches to provide shade and climate refuge, effectively opening the site to the surrounding streets.
