Lleida's IEI acquires Joaquim Cobo Coma photographic archive

The Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs (IEI) has added the Joaquim Cobo Coma photographic collection to its archive. The donation, formalized by Joan Talarn and photographer Enric Rodríguez, consists of 112 rolls of negatives documenting social, cultural, commercial, and sporting life between 1961 and 1972.

The collection includes both black-and-white and color images from various locations, primarily Lleida, but also Balaguer, Les Borges Blanques, Vallfogona de Balaguer, Montgai, and Ponts. Notable subjects within the archive include Ràdio Lleida, musical groups such as Los Cliper’s, Los Linces, and Los Comodines, the inauguration of Cinema Granados, and the Fira de Sant Miquel.

One highlighted image captures the rumba singer Peret performing at a Gypsy wedding. The IEI intends to provide digital access to the collection to facilitate research and public consultation.
