Lloyd Clinton Edwards arrested for parole violations in Sacramento County
Lloyd Clinton Edwards, a 47-year-old registered sex offender, was arrested in Sacramento County on September 24 for alleged parole violations. Edwards was previously sentenced to three life terms plus 51 years following a series of violent sexual crimes committed in Chico in 2000.
During a compliance check by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force, detectives found Edwards residing with an adult woman and a 5-year-old child. A search of the residence reportedly uncovered substances that violated his parole conditions. Additionally, investigators found a device in his vehicle's trunk described as a GPS, spy, and monitoring-device detector, which authorities believe may have been intended to identify law enforcement surveillance equipment.
Following his arrest, Edwards was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, though he was released shortly thereafter. The arrest has prompted public questioning from Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper regarding the circumstances of Edwards’ initial release from prison given the severity of his original sentence.
