Lloyds data shows young female investors hold larger portfolios than men

Data from Lloyds indicates that young female investors aged 18 to 25 are building larger portfolios than their male counterparts. According to the bank’s analysis of Invest Wise account holders, the average investment portfolio for young women is £14,040, which is 49% higher than the average for young men, who hold £9,450.

Research shows that women are also more likely to be active investors. Approximately 69% of female account holders were classified as engaged investors, compared to 56% of men. However, despite higher average balances and engagement levels, women represent less than a third (32%) of the total investor population in this demographic.

Industry experts noted that the primary challenge is participation rather than ability. While those who do invest are highly active, the goal remains to make investing more accessible to encourage more women to enter the market.
