Lloyd’s Register and NSML to launch maritime forum in Nigeria

Lloyd’s Register (LR) and NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML) have announced plans to establish the NSML-LR Maritime Future Forum in Nigeria. The new industry-led platform is designed to bring together leaders from shipping, energy, infrastructure, and finance to address global maritime challenges and opportunities.

The forum aims to position Nigeria as a central hub for maritime dialogue and development within Africa. Participants will include shipowners, regulators, energy companies, investors, insurers, and technology providers. Key discussion topics will focus on integrating shipping, technology, and investment to unlock economic growth, strengthen supply chains, and support sustainable development.

This initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed by LR and NSML at Gastech 2025, which focused on enhancing maritime skills and training in West Africa. The forum represents an expansion of that collaboration, addressing industry shifts such as digitalization, decarbonization, and increased investment in LNG and offshore energy.
