Lloyd’s Register to develop global operating model for ArcelorMittal dry bulk terminals

Lloyd’s Register is partnering with ArcelorMittal to create a strategic, auditable and scalable operating model for the steelmaker’s worldwide dry bulk terminal network. The model will set a common baseline across continents, regulatory regimes and operating cultures, aiming to reduce variability, boost safety and reliability, and improve governance and ESG performance.

The framework will combine a controlled operations manual, a structured SOP library, checklist‑based controls and self‑audit tools to capture evidence, ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement. It will also define common KPIs, enable consistent reporting, cross‑terminal benchmarking, clear escalation procedures and structured improvement planning. Environmental stewardship, biodiversity, emissions reductions and responsible waste management will be embedded throughout the documentation.

Lloyd’s Register officials said the system is designed to be practical, verifiable and scalable, providing ArcelorMittal with a repeatable way to run high‑standard terminal operations while supporting digital implementation, performance visibility and assurance across its global port portfolio.
