Lloyd’s Register secures A$11m contract for Australian Army landing craft
Lloyd’s Register (LR) has secured an A$11 million ($7.2 million) contract from Austal Defence Australia (ADA) to provide naval classification services for the Australian Army’s Landing Craft Medium (LCM) program.
Under the agreement, LR will provide quality, compliance, and assurance services throughout the construction and delivery of 18 LCM vessels. This project is part of a larger A$1.029 billion Design and Build Tasking Statement being delivered by ADA under the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA).
LR personnel will be stationed at the Henderson shipyard in Western Australia for the duration of the program to verify that construction and quality processes meet required standards. This contract follows LR’s previous involvement in major Australian defence projects, such as the Hunter Class Frigate program.
