Lâm Đồng approves continued lease of Dinh I Đà Lạt for King Palace project
The Lâm Đồng Provincial People's Committee has issued a decision allowing Hoàn Cầu Đà Lạt Joint Stock Company to continue leasing land at Dinh I Đà Lạt to implement the King Palace project. The site, located in Xuân Hương Ward, Đà Lạt, covers approximately 18.2 hectares, including 16.3 hectares of landscape forest land.
The project had faced significant legal hurdles following a 2020 Government Inspectorate conclusion. The inspectorate found that the original 2014 lease violated land use laws because it was not included in the 2011–2015 land use plan and was not conducted through a public auction. This led to recommendations to terminate the project and reclaim the land.
Attempts to resolve the issue through land reclamation were delayed due to disputes over compensation. While the provincial Department of Finance proposed a 58.6 billion VND budget payment, the developer claimed investments exceeding 141 billion VND. Dinh I Đà Lạt had ceased operations and stopped receiving visitors in April 2024. Under the new decision, the company is required to fulfill all obligations regarding land, taxes, investment, construction, environment, and finance.
