Lâm Đồng authorities respond to severe land subsidence in Đắk Snao

Authorities in Lâm Đồng Province are taking urgent measures to ensure the safety of residents following severe land subsidence and soil cracking in Đắk Snao Village, Quảng Sơn Commune. The geological instability, triggered by heavy rainfall between August 31 and September 14, has affected approximately 4 hectares of land, posing a high risk of landslides.

Reports indicate that the subsidence has reached an average depth of 20cm, with cracks stretching approximately 300m in length and 6-20cm in width along hillsides and residential areas. This phenomenon has impacted the homes and agricultural land of 79 households, totaling 454 people, who have been forced to relocate to temporary shelters and community centers.

Lưu Văn Trung, Chairman of the Lâm Đồng Provincial People's Council, led a delegation to inspect the affected sites, including coffee and pepper plantations. The delegation provided 79 relief packages, each containing 5 million VND in cash from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Relief Fund, along with rice and essential supplies. Local authorities are currently evaluating sites for long-term resettlement to stabilize the community.
