Lâm Đồng flash floods inundate 25 homes in Cat Tien 3

Flash floods caused by heavy overnight rainfall have inundated approximately 25 houses and various auxiliary structures in Cat Tien 3 commune, Lam Dong province. The intense precipitation, recorded at 195.4mm at the Phuoc Cat 2 station between the evening of September 20 and the morning of September 21, caused rapid water runoff from upstream sources.

Local authorities mobilized full emergency forces to evacuate residents and assets from high-risk areas. Initial damage is estimated at approximately 1 billion VND, affecting residential homes, crops, and aquaculture ponds. While residents began returning to their homes on the morning of September 21 to begin recovery efforts, authorities continue to monitor weather developments and manage minor landslides on local roads.

Forecasts indicate that Lam Dong will continue to experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms through September 24, with rainfall amounts potentially reaching 120-250mm, and localized areas seeing over 400mm, maintaining a high risk of flooding and landslides.
