LMD and CAID announce new initiatives in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Municipal League (LMD) has introduced a new training initiative titled ‘Leadership for Territorial Development’ to enhance the management capabilities of local governments. Led by President Víctor D’Aza and Public Administration Minister Sigmund Freund, the program focuses on strategic areas such as public management, sustainability, innovation, and circular economy. The academic offering, coordinated by the Municipal Training Institute (ICAM), includes master's degrees, diplomas, and certifications in collaboration with institutions like the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).

Separately, the Center for Autism and Early Intervention (CAID) is implementing a New Care Model starting in 2025 to address rising demand and reduce waiting lists. The expansion includes extending service hours until 7:00 PM in Santo Domingo Oeste and Santiago, and establishing Territorial Therapeutic Intervention Units (UITT) in several locations, including Ensanche Luperón and Los Guaricanos. CAID currently provides care to approximately 5,019 children, the majority of whom have autism spectrum disorder.
