Lndc Animal Protection joins trial over death of Timida in Siracusa

The Court of Siracusa has admitted Lndc Animal Protection as a civil party in the criminal trial regarding the death of Timida, a community dog. Timida, a 14-year-old dog who was nearly blind and deaf, was found dead on railway tracks in April 2025 after being removed from her long-term habitat in the Lido Sacramento neighborhood.

Investigations by the Prosecutor's Office have led to charges against three individuals. The allegations include the destruction of shelters for dogs and cats, as well as the forced removal of animals from the area. A central focus of the trial will be determining how Timida ended up on the tracks and whether she was intentionally tied down before a train passed, as suggested by investigators.

Piera Rosati, president of Lndc Animal Protection, stated that the association's admission as a civil party is a fundamental step to represent the interests of an animal that can no longer defend itself and to seek an exemplary sentence for the gravity of the incident.
