Lüneburg to replace stolen Stolpersteine memorial stones

In Lüneburg, authorities have announced that two Stolpersteine (stumbling stones) memorializing victims of the Nazi regime will be replaced following their theft during road construction. The missing stones commemorate Inge Roxin and Mariechen Petersen, both victims of Nazi “euthanasia” programs.

Alexander Matz, head of the Civil Engineering and Greenery Department, stated that the replacement stones have been ordered, though the manufacturer estimates a delivery time of approximately eight weeks. Once delivered, the stones will be installed immediately at their original locations on Rotehahnstraße. The city is coordinating with the Euthanasia Memorial Site to ensure the families of the victims are informed.
