Lünen begins B54 street lighting upgrades

The city of Lünen will begin renewing street lighting on the B54 (Dortmunder Straße) starting Monday, October 5. The project, which spans the section between Konrad-Adenauer-Straße and Kupferstraße, is expected to last until November 6.

To facilitate the installation of new light masts and the transition to LED technology, the roadway will be narrowed. While the road will remain open in both directions, a speed limit of 30 km/h will be enforced, and delays are anticipated during peak commuting hours. The southern sidewalk will remain accessible for pedestrians and cyclists.

The upgrade to LED technology aims to reduce energy consumption and improve visibility during dark hours. Additionally, a gap in a bridge railing over the railway tracks remains a separate issue, which North Rhine-Westphalia plans to address through a collective contract with a specialized company in the coming year.
