Lünen deploys second speed enforcement trailer
The city of Lünen has deployed a second enforcement trailer, named ‘Maja’, to monitor vehicle speeds and enhance traffic safety. This new device complements the existing enforcement trailer known as ‘Willi’.
By utilizing two trailers, the city can conduct monitoring at more locations and over longer periods, including nighttime. The units will primarily be stationed at accident hotspots and near sensitive areas such as schools, daycare centers, hospitals, and nursing homes. The selection of monitoring sites is informed by traffic volume data and public feedback.
The city rents the equipment, with annual costs for the second trailer estimated at approximately 120,000 euros. This fee covers maintenance, repairs, and protection against vandalism. The name ‘Maja’ was chosen to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first broadcast of the children's series of the same name.
