Train service resumes in Wuppertal after signalling centre repair
A week‑long disruption on the Cologne‑Wuppertal‑Hagen line ended when the DB repaired the signalling centre at Wuppertal‑Vohwinkel. The fault, which began on Thursday morning, was resolved by replacing computer components, allowing regional S‑Bahn and Regional‑Express services to restart on Saturday. Long‑distance trains had already been diverted.
The outage occurred amid a major renovation of the entire Cologne‑Hagen corridor that began in February and is slated to finish on 10 July. During the works the line has been closed to regular traffic, with about 200 replacement buses serving commuters. DB Regio postponed the return to normal operations until Saturday morning because of the hot weather and the need to ensure a stable restart.
The restored service is expected to run on the regular timetable, although occasional delays may still occur as the system stabilises.
