LNFP confirms Ligue 1 2026‑27 calendar after draw controversy
The Ligue Nationale de Football Professionnel (LNFP) announced on Wednesday that the results of the July 29 draw for the 2026‑27 Ligue 1 schedule are final and will be implemented. The league said the validation follows clubs’ observations and confirms that the draw, conducted in the presence of club representatives and a bailiff, was carried out transparently.
Spokesperson Hafedh Ben Ahmed had previously denied any plan for a new draw, stating that the procedure was completed “absolutely not on the agenda” and that there was “no reason to redo it.” A controversy arose after videos suggested a procedural error – a ball was placed in the wrong container – but observers agreed the mistake did not affect the final calendar. The Ligue 1 season is set to begin on 22‑23 August 2026.
