Lạng Sơn police dismantle delivery driver impersonation scam ring

Lạng Sơn provincial police have prosecuted and detained seven individuals for operating a fraudulent ring that impersonated delivery drivers to steal assets via telecommunications. The group was discovered during a raid on a stilt house in Vũ Lễ commune on August 28.

The ringleader, Nguyễn Văn Hậu, reportedly learned fraudulent techniques while working for foreign-run scam operations in Cambodia. After returning to Vietnam, Hậu established the domestic network under instructions from foreign handlers. He managed the operation by renting locations, purchasing equipment and burner SIM cards, creating fake Facebook profiles, and collecting customer data to facilitate the scams.

The seven defendants include Nguyễn Văn Hậu, Cao Văn Đương, Trần Tiến Hoành, Cao Văn Dương, Trần Gia Thế, Phạm Trang Nhung, and Trần Kim Hoàng. They face charges related to using computer networks, telecommunications networks, or electronic devices to commit property appropriation.
