Långhult wind farm project halted in Jönköping

The planned Långhult wind farm, located near Bottnaryd, faces a halt following a shift in political support within the Jönköping municipality. The project, proposed by Fred. Olsen Renewables AB, involves the installation of 20 wind turbines, reaching heights of up to 270 meters, spanning the municipalities of Jönköping and Gislaved.

While the city planning office initially suggested that the interest in environmentally friendly electricity might outweigh the local impact on nature and outdoor values, the city planning committee voted 7-6 in favor of the project. However, the Liberal Party (L) changed its stance during the municipal executive board meeting, voting to reject the permit. This shift follows years of investigations and significant local protests from residents concerned about the impact on human health and wildlife.
