Lào Cai police arrest Tạ Đình Phúc for illegal drug possession

Lào Cai police have prosecuted and detained Tạ Đình Phúc, a local criminal known as ‘Phúc Què’, for illegal possession of narcotics.

Phúc had previously been sentenced to eight years in prison in 2022 for drug trafficking. However, due to his physical disabilities, the court granted him a suspension of his sentence on humanitarian grounds. During this period, authorities report that he continued to commit crimes.

To evade detection, Phúc frequently used an unregistered motorized tricycle and transported small children to mask his activities. On September 29, police apprehended him in Yên Bái Ward, where they discovered a plastic bag containing heroin. He has since confessed to the charges, and the investigation is ongoing.
